It was a month long personal challenge, similar in concept to events such as [[https://inktober.com/|Inktober]], but focused on writing. The stated goal of the challenge was "to write new dialogue for one (or more) of your ghosts," with 100 dialogue prompts being provided throughout the course of the month to aid in writing. ===== Information ===== Below is a transcription of the event's information as posted in the [[info:Ukagaka Dream Team#Where to find us|Ukagaka Dream Team Discord server]]. ++++ Click to reveal full transcription. | > **What is Aughost** > This is an experimental event I'm trying, with a focus on writing! This event does not have rigid rules, nor does it have submissions. Instead, it's more of a guided personal challenge, along the lines of events such as Inktober. > > The goal is simple: to write new dialogue for one (or more) of your ghosts. > **How it works** > There will be 100 dialogue prompts provided throughout the course of the event, with 3-4 prompts given each day. If you follow every prompt, you will end the event with 100 new dialogues for your ghost. > > That being said, you don't need to participate in that specific way! > > Only want to write for 1 prompt a day? You'll still end up with 31 new dialogues, which is a solid chunk of content. > > Only have time to write on the weekends? There's nothing stopping you from writing the prompts from a whole week in a single day! > > Only have time to participate for the first two weeks? That's still ~50 new dialogues! > > Not interested in my list of prompts? Feel free to write your own, or just wing it*! > *Not recommended unless you're an experienced writer > > Since this is a personal challenge, you can adjust things however you need to suit you. So long as you write something new for your ghost, you're succeeding. > **Picking a project** > You can write for any of your ghosts that you like! You can write for... > • A new ghost > • An existing WIP ghost > • A ghost you've already published and want to update > • A ghost you're planning to keep private > > Or whatever works for you! > **Prompt tips** > The prompts are here to inspire you, you don't have to follow them rigidly! I've tried to pick a lot of words that can have multiple interpretations, to make them as flexible as possible. > > You can use the prompts by... > • Using the exact prompt word in a dialogue > • Using a variant of the prompt word in a dialogue (ex: "starry" could also be used as "star", "starlit", "starstruck", etc.) > • Writing a dialogue themed around the prompt word, without using the word itself > > It is also perfectly fine if a prompt word jumps your mind to an unrelated concept, and you write that instead! The prompts are here to //inspire// you, so however that happens is perfectly fine. > > And of course, if you don't gel with a prompt at all, feel free to toss it out and come up with a new one! The ultimate goal here is to write dialogue, not to use all the specific prompt words. > **Sharing your progress** > It is highly encouraged to share your progress as you go! Sharing is a good way for us to keep each other motivated, and if you're struggling with a prompt you might be able to get some feedback. > > **Please spoiler any dialogues you write for the duration of the event.** Others will be trying to write for these prompts too, and it would be helpful if they can avoid being influenced by your interpretation of the prompts until they have had a chance to write their own. After August ends, feel free to share without spoilers. > > It is also encouraged to share your work after the event ends (by releasing your ghost/releasing a network update, etc.)! We'd love to see what you made in action. > > However, it is **not required** to share your work. There are no submissions for this event, so you can handle things in any manner you like. > > Please note that since there are no submissions, that also means that participating ghosts will **not** be listed on the wiki page for the event. This style of event just isn't suitable for it! > And that's it! Prompts will be posted daily starting on August 1st, and will be posted through the end of August. Join this thread to see them as they're posted. > > Good luck! ++++ ===== Prompts ===== ^ August 2024 ^^^^^^^ ^ Sun ^ Mon ^ Tues ^ Wed ^ Thurs ^ Fri ^ Sat ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ | 1st\\ Hold\\ Spread\\ Wild | 2nd\\ Husk\\ Trace\\ Pulse | 3rd\\ Screen\\ Rinse\\ Starry | | 4th\\ Tie\\ Ready\\ Cold\\ Long | 5th\\ Reel\\ Mention\\ Wind | 6th\\ Read\\ Fleet\\ Air | 7th\\ Rat\\ Hustle\\ Seed | 8th\\ Dread\\ Around\\ Bow | 9th\\ React\\ Fire\\ Dust | 10th\\ Red\\ Drop\\ Tread\\ Half | | 11th\\ Prime\\ Treat\\ Live\\ Jump | 12th\\ Skew\\ Window\\ Return | 13th\\ Dream\\ New\\ Sweet | 14th\\ Leaf\\ Brush\\ Breathe | 15th\\ Bring\\ Twist\\ Shred | 16th\\ Thaw\\ Nail\\ Kicks | 17th\\ Treat\\ Wave\\ Sting\\ Sea | | 18th\\ Spout\\ Sub\\ Safe\\ Dial | 19th\\ Fan\\ Bitter\\ Kite | 20th\\ Freeze\\ Ride\\ Unlike | 21st\\ Meter\\ Sage\\ Warp | 22nd\\ Feeling\\ Bud\\ Score | 23rd\\ Jump\\ Reference\\ Wrap | 24th\\ Trek\\ Spin\\ List\\ Reach | | 25th\\ Trail\\ Heavy\\ Link\\ Scramble | 26th\\ Dear\\ Skip\\ Point | 27th\\ Fire\\ Sink\\ Frost | 28th\\ Far\\ Never\\ Pay | 29th\\ Press\\ Light\\ Trip | 30th\\ Try\\ Shove\\ Dark | 31st\\ Limp\\ Rust\\ Beam | {{tag>2024 Event}}
