//Dusk_Dawn// (referred to as Dusk and Dawn) are two original characters made by [[dev:DJ-Dusk]]. The two bats are friendly towards the user, and come with a variety of useful functions, including a music player and medication/treatment reminders.

DJ-Dusk has expressed that she wishes for this Ukagaka to be a bit of a self-care buddy - especially for those with Cystic Fibrosis, as it's a disease she herself deals with and would like to help others with. The Ukagaka was originally made just for her own personal use before it went public.

===== Reminders =====
Dusk and Dawn can remind the user to take medications, as well as to do treatments. They have preset times that each of these can be scheduled for, but if a medication reminder and treatment reminder overlap, they will be unable to do both. They will prefer the medication reminder over the treatment reminder in this case.

Reminders will be given when the appropriate hour begins.

==== Medications ====
Medication reminders can be issued once a day or twice a day. The hour they are given is configurable. If the user has reminders set to twice a day, then the reminders will be given with a 12 hour gap. So if 7 o'clock is chosen, a reminder will be given at 7AM and 7PM.

==== Treatments ====
Treatment reminders can be issued twice a day, three times a day, or four times a day. Preset schedules are available based on which option the user chooses.

==== Mysterious visitor ====
Booting the ghost on the July 7th or November 10th will make a mysterious character appear for the rest of the day. This character will also appear if Dusk is wearing the Necklace of Memory dressup.

==== Night and Shade ====
Booting the ghost on January 14th will introduce a new set of interactable wolf characters, Night and Shade, who replace Dusk and Dawn for the day. The user can get Dusk and Dawn back by closing the ghost, and after this point, they will gain the ability to switch between the characters at will in the main menu.

Night and Shade can perform many of the same functions as Dusk and Dawn, including reminders. They also have some unique functions of their own, including a playable piano, and game recommendations.

The wolves also come with their own set of dressup items.

==== Glitched!Dusk ====
There is a 4% chance that upon booting, Dusk and Dawn will load into a "glitched" mode, where only Dusk will appear, and her dialogue and functions will be "corrupt". This mode includes glitchy surfaces that flash on occasion.

The user may exit this mode at any time through a button on the main menu.

===== History of the characters =====
Dusk first came about way back in 2011 as a mere purple bat who happened to be a DJ. A couple years later, she eventually turned into what DJ-Dusk describes as a "weird chibi DJ bat thing". For reasons unknown, Dusk became DJ-Dusk's main online persona and icon - or some could even say a self-insert character.

DJ-Dusk has always described the character of Dusk as a "positive icon" for herself. To quote her directly:

> "Dusk is basically an amalgamation of my more positive traits along with my interests/hobbies. My love for bats, music, games, teriyaki wings, etc.. She also shares my birthday, orientation, and even disease - though I don't mention it often. In the end, Dusk can be seen as sort of a coping character of mine. She shares a similar fate to mine, but she came out better in the end with a wonderful partner and a happy life. It gives me hope, in a way."

Later down the line, Dawn would be made as an opposite to Dusk. While Dusk is more energetic and positive, Dawn is more calm and cautiously optimistic. Their colour schemes even oppose each other, going for the classic Red and Blue look.

Dawn is not used as an icon like Dusk is, so her appearances are very limited in comparison.

At first glance it may seem like Dusk and Dawn are just good pals, but DJ-Dusk has confirmed that they are actually a lesbian couple. Dusk often calls Dawn "dear", and there are a couple lines of them spouting their love for each other.

===== Trivia =====
  * Both Dusk and Dawn have two dress up items, namely Dusk's Bow and Bowtie Collar, and Dawn's Witch's Hat and Shawl, that are Touhou Project references. Dusk's items resemble Reimu Hakurei, and Dawn's resemble Marisa Kirisame, both from [[https://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Subterranean_Animism|Touhou 11: Subterranean Animism]].
    * Dusk's Purple Rose is a reference to 65 Roses - a slogan per se for the Cystic Fibrosis community. It's a mispronounciation of the disease; coined by a child who called it "65 Roses". Also, the ribbon is for CF Awareness is purple, but since it's universally for other things and not specifically CF, the community tends to use purple roses instead.
  * Night and Shade have dress up items; the Coat and Jacket respectively. Both are references to the 2008 RPG [[https://off.fandom.com/wiki/OFF_Wiki|OFF]]. Shade mentions that his coat is actually a general's coat, much like Dedan in the game, and Night says her jacket always smells of sugar, and resembles Sugar's jacket.
  * Glitched!Dusk is a reference to W.D. Gaster from [[https://undertale.wiki/|Undertale]]. Her colour scheme mirrors that of the Gaster Followers, and she says a couple things referencing ENTRY NUMBER SEVENTEEN and being "shattered across time and space"; a fate Gaster meets. Glitched!Dusk's main motif is that her files haven't "loaded", this being DJ-Dusk's interpretation on what happened to Gaster within the game.

Dusk and Dawn use the [[balloon:Dusky Balloon]], a simple balloon with silhouettes of Dusk in the corners.
