How to Tag Pages

How to Tag Pages
Type Wiki Guide

Tagging pages can be intimidating if you aren't familiar with the process. In general, the tag list will tell you what tags go with what kinds of contributions, and what each tag means. You can go section by section to decide which tags the page you're working on should get. This guide exists to get you started, and give you an idea of what tag categories you should be looking at for what you're working on.

When we write tags on any page, they are always in alphabetical order, except for wiki meta tags (tags beginning with “wiki.”) which are always listed last. This alphabetizer tool is helpful for this purpose, and can be set to alphebetize lists separated by spaces.1)

The general process for tagging is to look through the tag list, check each section to see if any tags apply, and write them in a list. When you've finished looking over the applicable sections of the tag list, you can alphabetize the list and paste it into the page you're tagging.

Tags for all pages

All pages must be tagged with what type of contribution they are and what year they were released2).

If applicable, pages should be tagged with what SHIORI they use, what languages they use/if there are multiple languages, any events the contribution was a part of, and any miscellaneous note tags such as spoiler warnings and content warnings. If adding a spoiler warning tag or content warning tag, be sure to also use the appropriate banner on the page.

If applicable, pages should be tagged with whether they are an original work or a fandom work. Fandom works should be tagged with the name of the fandom they are from. This does not apply to contributions such as guides.

Tags for ghosts

All ghosts must be tagged with number of characters.

Any applicable features tags should be added.

If a ghost has more than 1 shell, it should be given the tag for multiple shells, and 1 or 2 additional tags based on whether the additional shells are bundled or must be downloaded separately.

Tags for balloons

All balloons must be tagged with how many characters they support, whether they are directional or not, whether they are symmetrical or not, whether they have a special font or not, whether the text area is patterned or not, and whether the text is darker or lighter compared to the background.

Additional tags may be added if the balloon has extra features, like more sizes or designs, or is semi transparent.

If a balloon fits a particular theme, it may be given a theme tag.

Any applicable notes tags should be added.

Tags for shells

All shells must be tagged with which ghost they are made for.3) They must also be tagged with whether they were created by the developer(s) of the ghost they are for, or if they were created by someone else.

Shells may have additional tags if they have custom functionality, such as MAKOTO or custom functions in a ghost like FLUX. They should also be tagged if the ghost has built in dialogue for that shell specifically.

Any applicable look/style tags should be added.

Wiki meta tags

Wiki meta tags help us maintain the wiki. Any applicable tags should be added.

For all tags except the download missing tag and the page removed tag, the tags should be removed once the page has been updated to solve whatever issue the tag is flagging up.

Make sure when applying these tags that you also use the corresponding banners, if there are any.

1)
This is helpful if you see a page with tags that are out of order, since you can simply copy the list out as it is, alphabetize it, and copy it straight back in.
2)
or Unknown_Date if the date is unknown
3)
If no tag exists for that ghost, one should be created.
